Happy “soft” opening weekend for college football. It’s not a very big schedule of games and honestly, Labor Day weekend is the official opening weekend of college ‘ball, but the Picker-Licker likes a game this weekend to bet on.
The game that stands out for me is Colorado State vs Oregon State. Colorado State is getting a lot of hype this year. Head Coach Mike Bobo’s team has the talent for Colorado State to live up to all of the hype. Colorado State has a viable shot to win the Mountain West Conference, having probably the best backfield and wide receivers in the conference. Oregon State is much more experienced then they have been over the past two seasons since Coach Gary Anderson left Utah State to join the Beavers. But I am going to hop on the hype-train for Colorado State in their first game. I expect them to outscore the Beavers and win their home opener.
Pick: Colorado State -4 (Risk -110 to win 100). I think Colorado State wins by at least a touchdown or more in this one. I am taking the points, but if you don’t mind risking more cash, you can always take the money line (Colorado State to win) is sitting at -175.
One more added bonus for any gamblers who like to do a teaser… I have two games this Saturday I would tease. Now just a quick refresher, a teaser is where you add points or take away points from the spread. Read my article Sports Betting for Beginners for a breakdown of all the different sports bets you can place.
Teaser Picks: 6 Point Teaser – Colorado State +2 & South Florida -14.5 (Risk 110 to win 100). I already said above why I like Colorado State, but South Florida has a shot to go undefeated this season and get a bid for a New Year’s Day bowl game. USF plays San Jose State who has all new coaches and gave up an average of 37 points per game last year. South Florida’s offense is one of the best in the country, led by their QB Quinton Flowers, and look for them to rollover San Jose State.
Good luck and hopefully next week we will be talking about the Lodi Picker’s hot start and not a licker of a weekend.
